At a glance
- Locate an exit
Find a corridor other than the closed entry and check the route from the hunter to that opening.
- Compare the choices
Read lives, ammunition, remaining target health, and the clear reward before deciding whether to continue fighting.
- Cross deliberately
When leaving is the better choice, move through the open corridor instead of spending the last shots on targets you cannot finish safely.
Find the usable corridors before the fight tightens
Every arena has two to four corridors through the foliage. The entry closes behind the hunter; the other corridors are usable immediately. You do not need to kill a certain number of zombies or wait for an exit timer. Identify which corridor is reachable from your position while you still have room to choose.
A corridor across an awakened group may be less useful than one nearby, even if the distant opening initially looks wider. Watch the path leading to it as well as the opening itself. Moving toward an exit changes the hunter's facing, so an attempted shot during the retreat will follow that new direction.
Compare remaining hits with usable ammunition
Count the shots loaded and the cartridges already spare. Then consider what the remaining zombies require. An untouched tier-five zombie needs three valid hits. If you have two shots, no spare cartridge, and no useful pickup route, those two shots cannot finish that target by themselves. An open corridor gives you another way to advance.
The calculation improves when targets share a cone. Two one-hit zombies can fall to one well-placed shot, so two zombies remaining does not automatically mean you need two shots. It worsens when the group spreads out or includes several untouched tougher tiers. Read the positions and target health alongside the zombie counter when making the exit decision.

Know exactly what an early exit gives up
Killing every zombie and then leaving awards 100 times the next level number, plus one life up to the three-life cap. Leaving while even one zombie lives grants no clear reward. That makes the decision visible: leaving level four after a full clear adds 500 bonus points, while leaving it early adds no clear bonus.
Both exits still lead to level five. The early option is useful because survival has value even without a bonus. If the last target is positioned where reaching it threatens your final life, the 500-point reward is only a possibility. Crossing a safe opening may preserve your chance to earn points in later arenas.
Adjust the risk to the lives you have
A new hunt starts with one life. Contact with a zombie removes a life, and reaching zero ends the run. With that starting life still your only one, an ambitious clear attempt has an immediate cost if it fails. After a perfect exit has earned another life, the same arena decision has a different margin for error.
If a capture leaves a life remaining, the living zombies return to their starting homes under the foliage and the current level continues. That gives you another chance to read the arena, but the life has still been spent. Reconsider the exit from the new situation instead of automatically repeating the route that led to contact.
Choose an exit while you still have room
Decide where you will go before the magazine reaches zero. Empty FIRE presses do not reload automatically, and a floor cartridge is only useful if you can reach it. Once a clear route is available and the remaining fight looks poor, commit to the movement needed to cross an open corridor.
Later levels contain up to nine zombies, with tougher tiers mixed in as the hunt advances. An early exit advances into that progression too, so the next arena can still contain a demanding group. Use it to protect a particular run when the current options are unfavorable, then read the next clearing from its actual counters and layout.
More questions
Do I have to clear a path by killing zombies before an exit opens?
No. Apart from the entry that closes behind you, the arena's corridors are usable from the start. You still need to reach and cross an open corridor while avoiding contact with living zombies.
Does an early exit replay the same level with fewer zombies?
No. Crossing an open corridor advances one level and abandons the living zombies in the old arena. The next level follows the normal progression, including its own layout, possible cartridge pickups, and eligible zombie tiers.
